St. Mary is participating in the signature campaign Repeal the Law (Chapter 188), which allows abortion up until birth in MA. This citizen-led campain needs to collect 49,716 certified voter signatures by October 23, so the law can be suspended. If the law is suspended, than a referendum question will be placed on the ballot in 2028 so the citizens of MA can vote. If not enough signatures are collected, then the law will take effect this November.
The Church teaches that life begins at conception and that all the unborn have a God-given right to life. Therefore, it is upon us to respect the life of the unborn. The four bishops of Massachusetts, including Bishop McManus, have endorsed this signature campaign (
https://repeal188.com/coalition/) and do encourage the faithful to participate.
This weekend and next weekend, St. Mary's will be collecting signatures at the entrances to the church. You do need to be a registered voter and you must sign on the sheet specifically for the town you live in. These sheets will be brought to the town clerk in each individual town for certification.
We thank
